Friday 28th October – bike **** – Around Felixstowe including lunch
‘Emily’ – Sunny periods.
What a fantastic start to the day, after yesterday’s lovely sunrise which
I photographed out of the back bedroom window, I checked again this morning
at 7.15 and it looked very promising. I quickly dressed grabbed my camera
and jogged to the clifftop at the end of our road arriving just in time to
capture some beautiful pictures, nature is just amazing, just so mild too,
it got to 20 degrees today:) After watching the sunrise above the horizons
I headed for home to sort out my pics before posting them on several sites
on Facebook as well as the local weather on both the BBC and ITV. I was
lucky enough to get one on BBC’s Look East but sadly not credited :(
After two days of windsurfing, I was hoping once again to go to Levington
but the winds in the morning were fairly light, it had also clouded over
and with my wetsuit still wet from yesterday so I decided against going
today even though Robert had messaged to say that he was going to Levington
where he was joined by Michael, in the end the wind picked up at 12.20 and
they had a good session but never mind I missed it, looks like next week is
looking promising!
So not have to think about windsurfing I could relax in the back garden
doing my exercises before packing a picnic and heading out on our bikes at
12.20, it’s the first time since last Friday! Once again, we head over to
see ‘Emily’ at Falkenham Church going the usual way past the park at
The Grove to Gulpher Road and down Marsh Lane and the breeze had definitely
picked up! Then sitting on the sea wall with his scope looking down Kings
Fleet was old birdwatching friend Roger who had had a health scare but was
once again fit enough to be out and about on his electric bike enjoying his
first love, nature. We stopped for a nice chat before continuing to our
bench at Falkenham Church, once again very quiet and peaceful. We had a
lovely relaxing lunch before heading for home via Kirton to Trimley to the
lane that leads to Loompit lake on the banks of the River Orwell near
Levington. Mag stops at the bench as I whizz down the lane to check out the
windsurfing conditions. The tide was very high and I spot Robert and
Michael foiling in the distance! We then continue along the tree lined path
which is covered in fallen Autumn leave all the way to Felixstowe docks.
Mag heads for home while I detour to the view point, then along the prom
and home for a welcome cuppa and cake. A top bike ride, out for 3 hours
covering over 17 miles:)
